About BIC @ DEFCON 2024

This CTF is organized by the Blacks In Cyber (B.I.C.) Village @ Defcon in 2024. The challenge will be a combination of several types of challenges include. * A Black History OSINT Challenge * A BIC Staff Scavenger Hunt * An Active Directory Challenge * A three part KC7 intrusion investigation (Hardest of the year) <br> ## B.I.C. Village Mission​ **"Social Justice and The Black Experience in Technology".** This village seeks to highlight Black experiences, innovations in the field, Black culture, Black history as well as provide a platform for the discussion of social justice and its impact on the progression and development of Technology. ​ ## 2024 Cultural Celebrations and Themes **"Celebration Of Caribbean Culture"** The BIC Village will be highlighting and celebrating Black Indigenous Caribbean culture in our 2024 design and music. This highlights the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of African-descended peoples in the Caribbean. Caribbean festivities often include vibrant music, dance, storytelling, and culinary delights, showcasing the resilience and cultural wealth of these communities. **"Pirate Lore"** African sailors/pirates, particularly those operating along the West Coast utilized their extensive knowledge of the night sky for navigation. Their ability to read the stars and celestial patterns allowed them to expertly navigate treacherous waters and evade capture at a time with limited technology.

Here’s what you need to know about the BIC CTF 2024 event, based on the questions we get asked the most.

Blacks In Cybersecurity™ began as an event series and meetup group in mid-2018. It has since grown exponentially, hosting several events year-round and multiple meetup groups worldwide. BIC aims to highlight and elevate the Black community in cybersecurity through its conferences and meetup groups.

No prior knowledge is needed to participe in the CTF. However, the challenges have various levels of difficulty which many require some experience.

Tampering with the contest infrastructure (physical & virtual) resulting in intentionally interrupting service or availability will result in immediate disqualification and possible escalation to event leadership. Participants may be disqualified if they violate the hosting event contest rules, engage in fraudulent activity, or submit inappropriate content.

The contest will START ON FRIDAY 08/09/24 @ 12:00 PM EST and END ON SATURDAY 08/10/24 @ 5:00 PM EST.

While there is no official team member limit, the BIC CTF team strongly suggests that you limit your official team members to 1 - 5 individuals.

THE BIC CTF Team STRONGLY encourages participating teams to bring their “A-game”, follow the 3-2-1 Rule, and have fun!
