About Cristin Goodwin
Cristin Flynn Goodwin is an American cybersecurity lawyer, public speaker and host of the Advancing Cyber Podcast. Cristin is best known for her ongoing work at the cutting edge of cybersecurity law, major cybersecurity incident response and threat intelligence. Her work also includes the impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technology, particularly quantum computing, on cybersecurity and incident response.
With over 17 years at Microsoft, Cristin Flynn Goodwin was the senior legal expert for every major cybersecurity event, incident, law, policy, or threat at the company, and advised on countless business developments and government engagements with major municipalities, counties, states, and Federal government in the US, and national governments in over 40 countries around the world. Prior to that, Cristin held both legal and operational cybersecurity roles in major telecommunications companies and started her career as a litigator with an office on the 85th floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center.
Starting in 2023, Cristin founded Advanced Cyber Law, a boutique law firm helping clients resolve the most complex business, policy, and operational challenges in cybersecurity, incident response, and threat intelligence. Cristin also set up Advancing Cyber, a podcast and eponymous consulting firm. She is also consulting with and the General Counsel of Good Harbor Security Risk Management, a boutique security firm run by former White House Cyber Czar Richard Clarke.
Cristin was appointed in 2023 to the Department of Commerce Internet Security and Privacy Advisory Board. She serves in an advisory capacity to heads of several companies on cybersecurity and related issues and serves on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Humane Society and KC7 Cyber, a threat intelligence-focused nonprofit.
She is also a proud mom of two, a German Shepherd, and a kitty, and is an avid skier. They all live in Redmond, Washington.
