About KC7

KC7 is a free, open-source cybersecurity game that teaches real-world threat investigation skills through hands-on, story-driven challenges. Our mission is to make cybersecurity education accessible to everyone — from curious beginners to seasoned professionals. Our Discord server is the heartbeat of our community, where players ask questions, share wins, and help each other learn. We need passionate people to help keep it thriving.

The Role

We're looking for a friendly, level-headed volunteer to help moderate the KC7 Discord server. This isn't about policing — it's about creating a space where players feel welcome, supported, and excited to learn. You'll be one of the first faces new members see and a consistent presence for our existing community.

What You'll Do

• Welcome new members and help them get oriented in the server
• Monitor channels to ensure conversations stay on-topic, respectful, and in line with KC7's community guidelines
• Answer common questions about KC7 or direct members to the right resources
• Flag and address spam, rule violations, or disruptive behavior in a calm, fair manner
• Escalate issues to the KC7 team when needed
• Share feedback from the community with the KC7 team — you'll have your ear to the ground
• Help brainstorm ideas for community events, challenges, or engagement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Familiarity with KC7. At least level 60 in KC7
• A genuine interest in KC7's mission and the cybersecurity education community
• Patient, approachable, and calm under pressure — conflict resolution is part of the job
• Reliable and consistent — members should be able to count on you showing up
• Good judgment and the ability to make fair, thoughtful decisions
• Prior Discord moderation experience is a plus, but not required

Time Commitment

Approximately 3–5 hours per week. No need to be online all at once — checking in a few times throughout the week goes a long way. Fully remote and flexible.
